Android clock widget not updating

18 Jan

Well, I knew there had to be some type of culprit to blame for this behavior.

My hunch about Samsung’s Touchwiz interface proved to be true when I decided instead of restarting the phone to instead restart the Touchwiz application.

After recently purchasing Samsung’s new flagship smartphone the Galaxy S4, I have had a weird issue with some of my beloved weather widgets not updating.

I had tried several different ones and after a period of time, the widget would stop updating or responding to the manual update input from touching the widget.

IMHO, this should be addressed by Samsung and carriers ASAP.

However even when I change the system clock (forward one hour or more) the widget update method is not being called, no visual changes or logs happen.

The only time i get the weather to update is to uninstall and reinstall the application.

I have several widgets that should update regularly: chats, weather, Google Fit, call logs etc; and none of them is updating. We identified the most disturbing problems with Android app widgets which can spoil user experience. One of them is when widgets freeze, and the other is when widgets don't show up in the widgets list.I even wait a couple of minutes thinking that the OS may wait till the next minute because it doesn't need precision, but still nothing triggers.Changing the system time won't trigger the basic widget updates?
